2024 UCI Track Champions League calendar revealed

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Sports Europe have unveiled the calendar for the 2024 UCI Track Champions League. The fourth edition of the series will feature five rounds held at three prominent venues.

The competition kicks off at the Vélodrome National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France, on Saturday 23rd November. This venue, familiar from hosting the league in 2022 and 2023, gains special significance this year as it recently saw the Paris 2024 Olympic Champions crowned.

The following weekend, Apeldoorn in the Netherlands will debut in the UCI Track Champions League with a double-header on 29th and 30th November. The Omnisport Apeldoorn has a rich history of hosting top-level international competitions, including the UCI Track World Championships in 2011 and 2018, as well as the 2024 UEC Track European Championships.

As in the past three seasons, the Lee Valley VeloPark in London, Great Britain, will host the final races on 6th and 7th December. This iconic venue consistently sells out, with spectators eager to see the blue jerseys awarded to the overall winners of the men’s and women’s Speed and Endurance Leagues.

UCI President David Lappartient remarked, “In its three years of existence, the UCI Track Champions League has become a not-to-be-missed fixture on the UCI Track International Calendar. This year sees an added dimension with the addition of the prestigious Apeldoorn venue as the host of two rounds, and of course athletes returning to Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines just three months after their Olympic battles at the same velodrome. Finally, we know from experience that the Grand Finale at London’s Lee Valley VeloPark will produce high-tension competition as the riders give their all for overall glory. We have all the ingredients for another incredible edition of the UCI Track Champions League!”

Chris Ball, Vice President of Cycling Events at Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, added, “We are so excited for the start of a new season of the UCI Track Champions League. With a brand-new venue in Apeldoorn and a tweaked format featuring two double headers, this season promises even more intensity and action. It is also an exceptionally special year because of the Paris 2024 Olympics Games, which we know are a career milestone for most of our UCI Track Champions League athletes, hosted at the same track as our opening round.”

Since its inception in 2021, the UCI Track Champions League has established itself as a premier event in track cycling, standing alongside the Tissot UCI Track World Championships, the Tissot UCI Track Nations Cup, and the Olympic Games. The series, a collaborative effort between WBD Sports and the UCI, aims to make track cycling more accessible and engaging, drawing in new audiences and elevating the discipline.

For the upcoming edition, WBD Sports is working closely with the UCI to revise the qualification system, enhancing opportunities for riders to qualify through other key competitions on the UCI Track International Calendar. More details on this will be announced shortly.
