Marta Bastianelli with heart is in the top 5 at Gent-Wevelgem

The tenth edition of the classic Gent-Wevelgem, Belgian classic included in the UCI Women’s WorldTour calendar, ended with the fifth place in the sprint of Marta Bastianelli.

The girls of the team Alé BTC Ljubljana have always been protagonists in the lively phases of the race.

An exciting final with the breakaway promoted by Elisa Longo Borghini and Soraya Paladin with the group of the best that has gone to catch them at 500 meters from the arrival just before the final sprint with the win of the Dutch Marianne Vos (Jumbo Visma) and with the fifth place of Bastianelli. Thirteenth Marlen Reusser and twenty-third Eugenia Bujak, both arrived in the main group.

The team manager Fortunato Lacquaniti said: “Today the result has arrived and we have also raced well as a team. I must say that the girls today raced more with their hearts than with their heads. We don’t have a top condition yet so we are satisfied with the performance. The fifth place at Gent-Wevelgem is an important result, especially for the morale is a placement that is good. The placement of Marta crowns the work of her teammates. Well done Bujak and Reusser who worked well and remained in front. Good work of Guderzo who managed the team well in the first part of the race. We look forward with confidence”.
