Jack Haig signs with INEOS Grenadiers for 2026 as team adds proven Grand Tour strength

Haig takes fourth from the breakaway on stage four of the Criterium du Dauphine

INEOS Grenadiers have confirmed the signing of Jack Haig for the 2026 season, adding one of Australia’s most reliable Grand Tour performers to their climbing group on a two-year deal. The move brings further experience and depth to a squad already reinforced by recent contract renewals and long-term planning.

Haig, now 32, arrives after more than a decade at the WorldTour level and a career built on resilience, consistency and tactical awareness in the mountains. His standout result remains third overall at the 2021 Vuelta a España, a performance that underlined his ability to survive the most selective terrain and remain competitive across three weeks. He has also collected multiple top ten general classification finishes at Paris-Nice, the Critérium du Dauphiné and the Vuelta a Andalucía, as well as stage wins at the Tour de Pologne and Andalucía.

Speaking about the transfer, Haig said he is proud to join a team he has admired since its earliest seasons, and is motivated by the chance to contribute to one of the sport’s most ambitious projects. He highlighted the culture of professionalism within the Grenadiers and expressed his eagerness to support the younger riders who have joined the squad.

Director of Racing Geraint Thomas noted that he raced against Haig for many years and has long respected his tenacity. Thomas emphasised that Haig knows what is required to stand on a Grand Tour podium and expects him to play a significant role in the team’s objectives over the coming seasons.

A rider shaped by steady progression

Haig’s trajectory has been defined by consistent improvement. After winning the young rider classification at the 2014 Tour Down Under, he established himself as one of Australia’s strongest stage racing prospects. His second place at the 2015 Tour de l’Avenir confirmed his potential, and two years later he claimed his first WorldTour victory on stage 6 of the Tour de Pologne.

He has since built a reputation as one of the peloton’s most dependable mountain riders. Across his years with Mitchelton-Scott and later Bahrain Victorious, Haig produced major top ten finishes at Lombardia, Paris-Nice and the Tour of the Alps, and delivered top five overall at the Dauphiné on three occasions.

His ability to recover well through long stage races, combined with strong positioning and a measured racing style, makes him a valuable addition to the Grenadiers’ Grand Tour core.

What Haig adds to the 2026 project

Haig joins the team at a moment of renewed focus on climbing depth and stage race leadership. His arrival complements recent extensions for Lucas Hamilton, Brandon Rivera and Kim Heiduk, providing the squad with a broad base of experienced support for high mountain objectives.

For Ineos Grenadiers, Haig brings:

  • proven Grand Tour durability, demonstrated by his podium at the Vuelta and multiple top ten week-long campaigns
  • the ability to ride both as a protected GC option and as a key mountain domestique
  • tactical calm, a skill honed across years supporting leaders and riding for his own results
  • leadership qualities shaped by years within some of the WorldTour’s most structured environments

With this move, INEOS Grenadiers continue to refine a roster that blends experience and emerging talent. Haig’s signing signals their intent to reinforce their presence in the Grand Tours while supporting the next wave of riders as they learn to compete at the top level.
