Amandine Fouquenet : « I had fun »

In the break on the 6th stage of the Tour International Féminin de l’Ardèche, Amandine Fouquenet finished 9th at Goudargues. She is second in the best young rider classification, and 18th overall. Also note the good performance of Lucie Jounier finished 3rd in the bunch sprint.

“I did all day ahead in a breakaway and our group goes to the end. During the sprint for victory a fall occurs, and I narrowly avoid it. I have a hard time sprinting because I was tired, but I still get through it. I was happy to race ahead today, to take the breakaway. I had a lot of fun, I’m a little disappointed to finish ninth because I hoped for better, but what I remember above all is this day spent at the head of the race. This is a positive point to remember. I am for the second night the leader of the classification of the best young rider, and I went back up to the 22nd overall in the event. I hope to hold this rank tomorrow”.
