American riders at the 2025 Tour de France Femmes

Chloe Dygert

Just five American riders line up for the 2025 Tour de France Femmes, a modest increase from last yearโ€™s four, though still short of the six who raced the first edition back in 2022. This yearโ€™s group reflects a spread of roles across the peloton – from team leaders and breakaway hunters to lead-outs and dependable all-rounders. While there’s no standout GC favourite among them, each brings a distinct strength that could shape stages across the nine-day race.

Dygert returns for her second Tour de France Femmes after finishing 2nd in the 2024 time trial stage – a result that showed her raw power remains among the best in the world when the terrain suits. 2025 has been more mixed. She DNF’d the Vuelta earlier this season but was 8th at Paris-Roubaix and 6th in Sanremo Women, proving dangerous on hard, fast classics-style parcours.

Without a time trial on this yearโ€™s route, Dygert will need to seek opportunities elsewhere, perhaps in the rolling transition stages or windy days where her sustained effort could split the race. If the team gives her freedom outside of supporting GC hopefuls like Niewiadoma or Bradbury, she could be a surprise contender for a stage win.

Kristen Faulkner

Kristen Faulkner (EF Education-Oatly)

Faulkner is one of the most experienced Americans at this race, making her third appearance after 38th overall last year and 40th in 2022. She was close to a breakthrough in 2024, finishing 4th and 5th on two summit finishes, and continues to be a threat in climbing-heavy stages with her aggressive, long-range style.

She comes into this Tour as the newly crowned US road champion and was 2nd on the opening day of the Tour of Britain Women. Whether going for stage results or supporting EFโ€™s plans in the mountains, Faulkner should be a regular presence in the action once the gradients bite.

Ruth Edwards (Human Powered Health)

After a DNF in her Tour debut last year, Edwards is back with more momentum in 2025. She was 3rd at the Navarra Elite Classics and 6th at the Cadel Evans Road Race, both strong climbing days that point to solid form and growing confidence in her role.

Sheโ€™ll be part of a Human Powered Health squad that isnโ€™t built around a single leader, giving Edwards space to ride opportunistically. If she can stay in touch on the longer climbs and manage positioning through the flatter days, a top-20 GC result or a strong breakaway performance isnโ€™t out of reach.

Lily Williams (Human Powered Health)

Williams lines up for her second Tour de France Femmes and has been one of the most consistent American one-day performers in 2025. She finished 6th on a flat sprint stage at the Vuelta a Burgos and 2nd from a break at the UAE Tour, and continues to rack up top-10s across both flat and lumpy races.

In a race without a pure bunch sprinter on her team, Williams is likely to get leadership on flatter days or in reduced sprint finishes. Sheโ€™s tactically sharp and has the speed to challenge in the right scenario, particularly if the race breaks apart late.

Jastrab returns to the Tour for the first time since 2023, now part of a sprint-oriented line-up working around Charlotte Kool. As a trusted lead-out rider, sheโ€™ll be key to guiding Kool through technical finishes, but sheโ€™s also proven capable of taking her own chances when called upon.

On stages where Kool is boxed in or the race opens up unexpectedly, Jastrab could get the nod to sprint herself. Sheโ€™s fast, clever in positioning, and could pick up a result if things line up.
