Anna van der Breggen wins double at Worlds

Anna van der Breggen is the new Worldchampion for the second time in her career the Dutch rider shines on the Worlds stage. In Imola she finished off a great show of force by the Dutch team. Earlier this week she already won the world title on the ITT. Making her the second woman in cycling history, 25 years after Jeannie Longo, to win the double at a Worlds.

The Dutch team dominated the race on the tough circuit in Italy. In the second to last lap, Anna attacked after Annemiek van Vleuten had paved the way for her. Van der Breggen soon extended her lead to 2.00m. Also after the bunch was chasing her, the lead never got in jeopardy. Anna finished solo in Imola celebrating this unique sport achievement with the Dutch team. Annemiek van Vleuten completed the Orange podium with a great ride and sprint to win the silver medal for Longo Borghini who took bronze.
