Britt Knaven to step away from cycling

Britt Knaven, following in the footsteps of her younger sister Senne, has made the decision to step away from professional cycling in an announcement on her Instagram. The 23-year-old, daughter of former cyclists Servais Knaven and Natascha den Ouden, conveyed her decision via Instagram, marking the end of her journey in the sport.

Knaven began her cycling career in 2020 with NXTG Racing Team, now known as AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step. After four seasons, she has decided to bid farewell to her team and the sport in general. Originally hesitant to publicly address her departure, Knaven felt compelled to share her decision due to numerous inquiries.

Reflecting on her decision, Knaven realised that pursuing a professional cycling career is not what she needs in her life at this moment. While the sport has brought her joy and happiness over the years, she expressed that she felt disconnected from her true self this year, leading her to question her real aspirations in life.

Knaven affirms her love for cycling will continue, albeit not at a professional level. Describing her decision as difficult yet necessary, she expressed gratitude for the support received from her family, friends, and team over the years. Now, Knaven looks forward to exploring non-cycling-related interests and enjoying different aspects of life.
