Dutch sprinter Charlotte Kool will leave Team Picnic PostNL with immediate effect, the team confirming her release today after almost four seasons together. Kool, who has developed from a reliable lead-out rider into one of the most feared finishers in the women’s peloton, is expected to join Fenix-Deceuninck, with official confirmation due soon.
During her time with Picnic PostNL, Kool’s highlights have included multiple Tour de France Femmes stage victories and a spell in the yellow jersey, as well as wins at major races across Europe. The team said her departure followed constructive discussions between both parties after interest emerged from her future squad.
Kool expressed her gratitude for the opportunities she had with Picnic PostNL, saying the move presented “an appealing challenge” while stressing that she had been happy with her current team. She thanked the organisation for supporting both her athletic and personal development, adding that she looked forward to tackling new goals with her next team.
Head coach Rudi Kemna acknowledged the impact Kool has had since joining, praising her progression and hinting that a future return could be possible. He emphasised that the women’s programme remains ambitious, pointing to the momentum from the Tour de France Femmes where Nienke Veenhoven claimed the white jersey.
Kool will finish the 2025 season away from Picnic PostNL before linking up with Fenix-Deceuninck, who will now have one of the most consistent sprinters in the sport to lead their sprint ambitions going forward.
