CJ O’SHEA Racing makes first 2026 line-up announcements with Van der Molen’s inspiring comeback and key renewals

Yuli van der Molen

CJ O’SHEA Racing have announced three major roster updates for the 2026 season, headlined by the signing of Dutch rider Yuli van der Molen, who returns to professional racing after overcoming Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The British UCI Continental team also confirmed contract renewals for Cindy Pomares and Ida Krickau Ketelsen, strengthening its international core ahead of the new year.

For Van der Molen, the move marks a powerful new chapter. The 22-year-old from Zaanstad was diagnosed with lymphoma in early 2024, bringing her career to a sudden halt. After completing treatment and making a low-key racing comeback this year, she is now ready to rejoin the international peloton with renewed perspective and motivation.

“It means a lot to be able to return to racing after such a challenging period,” Van der Molen said. “I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and for the warm welcome I’ve received from everyone at O’Shea Racing. I can’t wait to pin on a number again, wear the stunning jersey, and start the new season together.”

A versatile rider with a background in both road and track cycling, Van der Molen previously rode for the development squads of Proximus-Cyclis and AG Insurance-NXTG, winning medals at Junior World and European Track Championships.

Team manager Pat Hayes praised both her determination and her potential. “Yuli brings so much experience and personality, and she’s only 22. We’re delighted to welcome her into the team. For someone still developing in the sport, she’s already shown immense resilience and ambition. She’ll contribute a lot in talent, insight and spirit.”

Experience and leadership: Pomares stays on

The team also confirmed that Cindy Pomares will continue for another season, extending her role as road captain. The French rider, a key part of CJ O’SHEA Racing since its foundation, will again serve as the tactical leader in races and a mentor for the younger riders.

“Cindy’s importance goes far beyond her results,” said Hayes. “She’s at the heart of our team spirit, making key decisions on the road and guiding the group through challenging races. We’re very proud to have her leadership again in 2026.”

Pomares’ re-signing was supported by the team’s partners, including the Flandrien Hotel, who continue to back the project into its next phase.

A bright future for Ketelsen

Rounding out the trio of announcements, Ida Krickau Ketelsen has also extended her contract. The 19-year-old Dane, already part of the Danish national team, has shown significant progress during her first season as an elite rider.

Despite her young age, Ketelsen has quickly impressed with her consistency and attitude, finishing 13th in the Danish national road race and gaining experience across a wide range of European races.

“Ida is a rider to watch,” said Hayes. “She’s developing on and off the bike, and her growth this past year has been fantastic. Keeping her in the team was a priority, and we believe she’ll take another big step forward in 2026.”

A strong blend of youth, recovery and leadership

With the arrival of Van der Molen and the renewed commitments of Pomares and Ketelsen, CJ O’SHEA Racing’s 2026 line-up balances experience with emerging talent.

For the London-based squad, the signings embody its philosophy of combining performance with personal development. “Our aim has always been to give riders a platform to grow,” Hayes concluded. “With Cindy, Ida and Yuli, we have three riders who perfectly represent what CJ O’SHEA Racing is about – courage, teamwork and progression.”
