Coryn Rivera 8th after an attacking GP Plouay

Coryn Rivera rounded out a very attacking GP Plouay for the team with eighth place, sprinting for the minor placings behind a solo winner. The result came after a day on the offensive for Team DSM with Floortje Mackaij and Liane Lippert getting caught in the final kilometre by what was left of the peloton.

The race took some time to settle with a break of two eventually going clear after well over an hour of racing on the tough rolling circuit around Plouay. With their advantage reaching three minutes a counter attack of 10 went clear containing Mackaij before this was brought back with 35 kilometres left to race, starting a very attacking finale.

Juliette Labous was one of those working hard on the front of the reduced peloton behind the leaders and helped bring the race back together. The attacking continued and coming into the final kilometres one rider led the race with a small gap over Mackaij who was joined by a few others including Lippert but the chase behind bridged just before the finish.

After the stage Team DSM coach Huub Duijn gave his recap from the day: “We had a good day out in Bretagne. We focused on being present in all the main attacks and the team did this well. First Franziska and Wilma where there to cover that the moves, but nothing really stuck until a dangerous group of 10 riders went up the road with 60 kilometres to go which Floortje made.

“The race all came back together again but this saw more attacks. Liane showed her strong form and went on the attack with four others. One rider attacked from Liane’s group and she just missed this move. Floortje also tried to bridge but wasn’t able to make it across. The winner was the strongest in the race today and behind it came back together in the last two kilometres. From there the girls focused on Coryn and set her up where she finished in eighth place in the reduced bunch.”
