Demi Vollering has been cleared to continue in the Tour de France Femmes following additional medical checks on Tuesday morning, with her team confirming she will start stage 4 despite crashing the previous day.

FDJ-SUEZ released a statement ahead of the stage confirming that Vollering underwent a second concussion protocol with the team doctor. No signs of concussion were detected, and the Dutch rider has been given the green light to race, though the team said they would continue to monitor her closely during warm-up and throughout the stage itself.

“Further medical examinations and a second concussion protocol Demi Vollering underwent this morning with the team doctor, ruled out the risk of concussion. With the support of FDJ-SUEZ team, Demi Vollering is determined to take part in today’s stage,” read the statement. “The team remains vigilant and will further follow her situation during the efforts (warming up and race).”

Vollering went down in a crash in the final kilometres of stage 3, which also involved Amalie Dideriksen. She eventually remounted and completed the stage, but questions around her condition persisted overnight, prompting the team to reassess her before stage 4.

FDJ-SUEZ also confirmed that Vollering would speak to media once in the mixed zone before the stage, with only two questions permitted. Swiss teammate Elise Chabbey will serve as the team’s main spokesperson for the day, as the team asks for respect for Vollering’s focus and recovery process.
