The organisers of the Volta a Catalunya have confirmed that Demi Vollering will be one of the headline names for the second edition of the women’s stage race, taking place from 6th to 8th June 2025. Vollering, who joined FDJ-Suez at the start of this season, will lead the French team in the three-day race across Catalonia, which returns after a successful debut in 2024.
The Dutch star brings a formidable palmarès to the race. Winner of the Tour de France Femmes in 2023 and La Vuelta Femenina in 2024, she also holds titles from prestigious one-day races, including Liège-Bastogne-Liège (2021, 2023), Strade Bianche (2023, 2025), Flèche Wallonne and Amstel Gold Race (both in 2023). At 28, Vollering is widely regarded as one of the most dominant riders of her generation.
Now she’s set to take on the Volta a Catalunya with victory clearly in her sights. The race’s second edition will cover three stages, beginning in El Perelló (Tarragona) and finishing in Barcelona. The mountain finish at Coll de Pal is expected to be decisive in the general classification battle.
Vollering has already won two other major Spanish stage races – Vuelta a Burgos (2023, 2024) and Itzulia Women (2022, 2024) – and will be targeting another win on Spanish soil as she builds towards the Tour de France Femmes this summer. Last season, she narrowly missed defending her Tour title by just four seconds.
The 2025 edition of the Volta a Catalunya Women will feature 20 teams, including four from the UCI Women’s WorldTour: FDJ-Suez, Movistar, Human Powered Health, and Team Visma-Lease a Bike. With Vollering confirmed, the race looks set to attract a high-calibre field for its second running, and the showdown on Coll de Pal could offer a key preview of the form leading into the summer’s Grand Tours.
