Owain Doull will join Team Visma | Lease a Bike from 2026 on a two-year deal, adding depth and experience to both the team’s classics group and sprint train. The 31-year-old Briton, an Olympic team pursuit champion on the track in Rio 2016, arrives after four seasons with EF Education-EasyPost.

Doull has carved out a reputation as a reliable all-rounder during nine years at WorldTour level, often excelling in support roles. He owns two professional road victories – a stage at the Tour de La Provence in 2020 and one at the Herald Sun Tour in 2019 – but his biggest contributions have come in helping leaders in the cobbled classics, building sprint trains, and offering stability in Grand Tours. He also has notable results of his own, including 2nd at Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne in 2019 and 3rd overall at the Tour of Britain in 2015.

Speaking about the transfer, Doull said he was eager to embrace the new role. “I’m very excited about the opportunity I’m getting here with one of the best teams in the world. I’m already highly motivated when I think about next season. I’m looking forward to supporting Matthew Brennan in the flat sprints, playing a role in his lead-out and in the classics. At the same time, I also want to discover how much room for growth I still have myself. Physically, I’m still getting stronger, even after nine years in the WorldTour. Last season was my best so far, and I expect that I can take another step forward with this team.”

Head of Racing Grischa Niermann underlined the thinking behind the signing. “With his experience at the highest level, he will absolutely strengthen our team. Owain showed last year that he can still be competitive in the spring classics. We also expect that he can continue to improve physically within our team. But his most important role will be to guide our young talents in the classics and sprints.”

For Visma, Doull represents a rider who blends tactical intelligence with proven strength, someone able to shepherd the next generation of talents while remaining competitive himself. For Doull, it is a chance to slot into one of the most ambitious squads in the sport, with clear objectives on the cobbles and in sprint finishes.
