Femke Gerritse has signed a contract extension with Team SD Worx-Protime, committing to the Dutch team through the end of the 2028 season. Her previous deal was set to expire in 2026, but following a successful spring campaign and a breakthrough performance at La Vuelta Femenina, team management approached her with a new long-term offer after the classics.

“I didn’t have to think twice,” said Gerritse. “This team feels like home. In the past year and a half, I’ve made more progress than I thought possible, and I believe I can continue to grow here.”

The 24-year-old rider’s 2025 season has already included victories at Omloop van het Hageland and the Volta NXT Classic, but her standout moment came during stage 3 of La Vuelta Femenina. Gerritse outsprinted Marianne Vos from a large group to claim her first Grand Tour stage win and take the red leader’s jersey. Remarkably, the Vuelta wasn’t originally on her race programme until shortly before the Ardennes.

Team sports manager Danny Stam praised her progress, calling her “a team player” and a valuable presence in the group. “Femke’s sprint after a tough race is becoming a real weapon, and we believe she can take more steps forward, particularly in hilly terrain.”

Gerritse said that racing alongside established names like Lotte Kopecky and Lorena Wiebes – both also signed through 2028 – has been motivating. “We always want to control the race. I love that mentality,” she said. “Training camps with the best riders push everyone to a higher level. If you can keep up in January in Spain, you know you’re on the right track.”

Looking ahead, she’s targeting further improvement in one-day races. “I’ve found I can still sprint well after a hard race. Now I want to build on that in the classics, especially at Brabantse Pijl and Strade Bianche.”
