Lidl-Trek has underlined its commitment to developing young talent by securing twin sisters Isabella and Ava Holmgren on new three-year deals, keeping the Canadian duo with the team until the end of 2028. Both riders will continue to balance their road ambitions with off-road disciplines, building on their early success in cyclocross, mountain biking and professional road racing.

For Isabella, the extension caps a rapid rise since joining the team in 2024. Already a junior mountain bike and under-23 cyclocross world champion, she proved her road credentials last season with second place overall at the under-23 Tour de l’Avenir. This year she delivered her first pro road win at Durango-Durango Emakumeen Saria, before making a standout Grand Tour debut at the Giro d’Italia where she claimed third on the Queen Stage to Monte Nerone and finished seventh overall. “There have been a lot of positives in my first years with the team, and I would love to keep building on that in the coming years and continue to grow with Lidl-Trek,” Isabella said. “Mixing the road and MTB has been really good for me so far, and continuing on that path is something that inspires me.” General Manager Luca Guercilena described her as “one of the most exciting young talents in cycling” with the potential to become one of the best climbers in the world.

Ava brings her own impressive palmarès, with national and Pan-American titles, a silver medal at the junior Cyclocross World Championships, under-23 short track World Cup victory, and a bronze medal at the short track World Championships. In 2025, she claimed the under-23 Canadian Time Trial title and finished fourth in the elite road race at nationals. “I love hard hilly races and I like to go on the attack,” she said. “A bigger goal of mine is to be more consistent and reliable as a teammate. If I can succeed in these two goals, I would be able to help my teammates achieve some nice results and also be ready myself when the opportunity comes.” Guercilena called her “a big talent in the making” and praised the strides she has made since joining the team.

With both riders targeting continued progress on the road alongside their mountain bike and cyclocross commitments, Lidl-Trek’s investment in the Holmgren sisters signals a long-term vision that blends multi-discipline racing with top-level road development. The pair already have their eyes on major goals, including the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and the home World Championships in Montreal next season.
