Venezuelan rider Lilibeth Chacón clinched her third title in the Vuelta a Colombia Femenina, solidifying her place among the race’s most successful cyclists. Despite finishing seventh in the final individual time trial, Chacón’s strong performance in previous stages secured her the overall victory.
The final day saw the riders tackle a 28.1-kilometre individual time trial in Valledupar. Portuguese rider Daniela Campos of Eneicat-CM took the stage win, clocking in at 37 minutes and 35 seconds. She narrowly edged out Canadian Nadia Gontova of DNA Pro Cycling, who finished just 300 milliseconds behind. Lorena Villamizar of Colombia’s Boneshaker Project rounded off the stage podium, 1 minute and 17 seconds adrift.
Chacón, representing Pato Bike BMC, entered the stage with a solid lead in the general classification. Although she completed the time trial 1 minute and 50 seconds slower than Campos, her accumulated time of 17 hours, 7 minutes, and 13 seconds across the race was enough to maintain her lead. Gontova finished the race 21 seconds behind Chacón, securing second place overall. Colombian Estefanía Herrera of Mujeres Antioquia – Orgullo Paisa completed the general classification podium, finishing 3 minutes and 22 seconds off the leader.
This victory marks Chacón’s third triumph in the Vuelta a Colombia Femenina, following her wins in 2021 and 2023. With this achievement, she joins Colombian cyclist Ana Cristina Sanabria as the only riders to have won the race three times. Sanabria claimed her titles consecutively in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Campos, who won the time trial, also secured the title in the under-23 category, underlining her status as a rising talent in the sport. Meanwhile, Chacón’s dominance extended beyond the general classification as she also took home the mountains jersey, highlighting her strength in the climbs throughout the race.
Other standout performances in the race included Paula Latriglia of Colombia Potencia de la Vida, who won the points classification, and Katherin Montoya, who claimed the special sprints jersey. The team classification was won by Chacón’s squad, BMC Patobike from Mexico, further adding to the team’s success in this edition of the Vuelta a Colombia Femenina.
