LOOK Launches Fastest KEO BLADE Pedals to Date

LOOK Cycle has unveiled the latest generation of their iconic KEO BLADE road pedal. Developed over three years with the collaboration of World Tour riders and technical teams, this new range offers cyclists the best weight-to-power transfer ratio in the road pedal category. Designed and made in France, the new KEO BLADE pedals are a testament to LOOK’s forty years of engineering, design, and manufacturing expertise.

The original KEO BLADE, launched in 2011, revolutionised pedal design by incorporating a carbon blade instead of traditional springs. This initial version quickly became a favourite among professional cyclists worldwide. The new KEO BLADE is touted as the fastest pedal yet and features a redesigned profile to minimise aerodynamic drag, achieving a 2% improvement over its predecessor.

The new KEO BLADE pedals boast a large contact surface with an extremely low weight, thanks to the blade technology which is 20% lighter than standard spring systems. This technology also offers unmatched clipping and unclipping sensations and a secure, movement-free engagement once clipped in.

Improvements in the new KEO BLADE include better weight distribution, enhanced pedal tilting for easier engagement, and a robust new design that offers increased shock resistance. The pedals, available from 95g per pedal, ensure uniform pressure distribution under the foot with every pedal stroke, reducing overheating and discomfort regardless of the sole material.

LOOK has also focused on enhancing the durability and reliability of the KEO BLADE components. The pedals feature a new axle line with double-sealed ball bearings and water-resistant grease for extended durability. Other improvements include a high-resistance stainless steel contact surface, a reinforced body design, and an updated lever design for increased cleat-pedal durability.

Cyclists can adjust the pedal tension from 8 to 20, depending on the blade level chosen, to suit their riding style and physiological needs. Changing blades is a quick, under-a-minute task.

Alex Lavaud, Global Product Manager at LOOK Cycle, emphasised LOOK’s continuous innovation and commitment to performance, comfort, and reliability in its product development. Pro cyclists Biniam Girmay and Bryan Coquard have lauded the new KEO BLADE pedals for their stability, power transmission, and overall performance. Samuel Bellenoue, Performance Director of the Cofidis Procycling team, also recognised the technological advancements of the new pedals.

The KEO BLADE range includes options with carbon bodies, KEO GRIP cleats, Chromoly+ axles, and options for steel or ceramic bearings. The pedals are available in different weights and price points, catering to a variety of cycling needs and preferences.
