Australian cyclist Sarah Gigante is set to join AG Insurance-Soudal from 2024. Gigante, a multiple Australian national champion in both road and time trial disciplines, has made a name for herself with consistent performances since turning professional in 2020. Her transfer to AG Insurance-Soudal, a newly promoted World Tour team, marks a new chapter in her career.
The move comes after an agreement between AG Insurance-Soudal and Movistar Team in October 2023. Gigante expressed her excitement about joining the team, citing her admiration for its passion and focus on development. She is especially eager to support her new teammate Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio in hilly races and aims to enhance her time trial skills. Her debut for AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step is set for the Australian Time Trial Championships on January 4.
Team manager Natascha den Ouden expressed confidence in Gigante’s abilities, acknowledging her potential to be an invaluable asset in stage races and the Walloon classics. She also noted Gigante’s resilience through a challenging period, emphasising her immense talent.
Gigante’s transition to AG Insurance-Soudal concludes her stint with Movistar, where she faced challenges including injury, illness, and limited racing opportunities. Despite these setbacks, her recent performance at the Tour of Bright, where she claimed an overall victory, indicates her readiness for the 2024 season.
