SD Worx-Protime has named its line-up for the 2025 Tour de France Femmes with a mix of ambition and caution. The team arrives with an all-star trio in Lotte Kopecky, Lorena Wiebes and Anna van der Breggen, but the original target of going all-in for the overall classification has been softened in light of Kopecky’s recent back injury.

Just weeks ago, Kopecky’s runner-up finish in the 2023 edition still loomed large as a reference point, with the world champion aiming to step up and fight for yellow. However, after abandoning the Giro d’Italia Women earlier this month due to back pain, the team has shifted to a stage-by-stage approach, prioritising day wins while keeping an open mind about potential GC ambitions.

The opening weekend in Brittany offers terrain well suited to Kopecky. Sports director Danny Stam admitted that her build-up hasn’t gone to plan, but suggested the early stages could still be revealing. The team will monitor her condition throughout the race and may pivot back to a GC strategy if Kopecky recovers well.

Wiebes will anchor SD Worx’s sprint ambitions. Despite a hilly route that favours climbers, there are still chances for the European champion, with stage 3 seen as a likely sprint opportunity. Stam also highlighted Wiebes’s ability to cope with undulating terrain, making her a threat beyond pure flat finishes.

Anna van der Breggen makes her Tour de France Femmes debut in what will be her highest-profile road appearance since returning from retirement. Her role is expected to blend support and personal freedom. The former Olympic champion could chase stage wins of her own while serving as a key support rider if Kopecky moves into GC contention. Van der Breggen’s experience and tactical insight remain invaluable, especially in a race where unpredictability can open up opportunities.

With Mischa Bredewold, Blanka Vas, Femke Gerritse and Elena Cecchini rounding out the squad, SD Worx-Protime comes armed with versatility and strength across the board. The team can go on the offensive in breakaways, contest sprints, and potentially shift gears if one of their leaders gains time in the mountains.
