Swedish time trial champion Stina Kagevi will move from Team Coop-Repsol to EF Education-Oatly for the 2026 season, marking the next major step in the 20-year-oldโs rapid rise through the professional ranks.
Kagevi joins EF Education-Oatly after two seasons with Team Coop-Repsol, where she developed into one of Scandinaviaโs most promising young riders. Her time with the Norwegian team saw her claim her first elite national title and two international stage wins, catching the attention of several Womenโs WorldTour outfits.
โThis move feels like a dream,โ Kagevi said. โWhen I started getting into road cycling, EF Pro Cycling always stood out to me. The way they race, always attacking and racing with confidence, gave me such a good feeling. It looks like they really enjoy what they do, and I think thatโs the best environment to develop.โ
In July, Kagevi became Swedish time trial champion for the first time, following up on her 2024 victories in individual time trial stages at the Volta a Portugal Feminina and Tour de Pologne Women. Her 2025 season also included fifth place at the European Under-23 Time Trial Championships, tenth overall at the Vuelta Extremadura Fรฉminas, and eleventh in the Under-23 World Championships road race.
EF Education-Oatly general manager Esra Tromp said the team intends to give Kagevi time to continue her steady progression. โStina has a powerful engine and we want to help her refine that,โ Tromp said. โBut development takes time. Sheโs still very young, and we donโt want to rush her. Giving her the space to grow is the best way to help her become the complete rider we know she can be.โ
Kagevi, who began her career on mountain bikes before switching to the road as a junior, says the teamโs attacking style and supportive culture drew her in. โCycling isnโt just a sport, itโs a lifestyle,โ she said. โYou need your team, your friends and your family around you. Itโs not just one person; itโs everything working together.โ
While her biggest results have come in time trials, Kagevi is reluctant to define herself too early. โI like time trials, but I also really enjoy races like the Ardennes classics that have short climbs and cobbles,โ she explained. โI think I can be a punchy rider. Itโs exciting to see how Iโm developing and to find out what kind of rider Iโll become.โ
Looking ahead to her debut with EF Education-Oatly, Kagevi says she wants to keep learning while contributing to the teamโs results. โI hope to help my teammates and learn as much as possible,โ she said. โI want to race hard and smart, and maybe try some of the classics and grand tours. Keeping my Swedish title and racing the world championships would be amazing goals for next year.โ
