The Cyclists’ Alliance has confirmed a refreshed and more globally representative leadership group for 2026, announcing a new Rider Representative on the Board and five newly elected members joining its Rider Council. The appointments were approved during the organisation’s General Assembly on 10 November and signal a continued drive to strengthen the collective voice of riders across all levels of the sport.

New Board link as Heidi Franz steps into key role

American rider Heidi Franz has been elected as the new Rider Representative, taking on the responsibility of relaying the Council’s views directly to the Board. Her role will be central to shaping the Alliance’s priorities at a time when conversations around rider welfare, contract security and racing conditions are growing louder throughout the peloton.

Franz said she was honoured to take on the position, noting her ambition to ensure riders “feel heard and supported” regardless of discipline or team structure. Her appointment also means she will remain an active part of the Council while taking on a broader strategic role.

Five new members broaden Council’s scope

The 2026 intake brings a wider international spread and increased discipline diversity. Joining the Rider Council next season are:

  • Alice McWilliam (UK)
  • Catalina Soto Campos (Chile)
  • Madigan Munro (USA)
  • Monica Jelimo (Kenya)
  • Morven Yeoman (UK)

The Cyclists’ Alliance highlighted the importance of this broadened representation, with riders arriving from road, off-road and developing cycling regions. Munro said she was eager to be a voice for athletes working outside the traditional road structure, while Jelimo spoke of her desire to help create an environment where every rider “feels protected, empowered and valued”.

Strengthening rider advocacy for 2026

The Cyclists’ Alliance enters 2026 with a broader platform from which to address key issues in women’s cycling. From race safety and the demands of the global calendar to employment standards and maternity protections, the Council will play a central role in shaping policy and championing rider rights.

With Franz providing a direct link to the Board and new members contributing fresh perspectives from across the cycling landscape, the Alliance aims to deliver stronger, more unified representation as the sport continues to develop.
