Trek-Segafredo renews exclusive partnership with KOO eyewear

Trek-Segafredo is delighted to announce that it has extended the partnership with the high-performance sports eyewear brand KOO for a further two seasons until 2022, as both the men’s and women’s teams get set for the return of the racing calendar to finish off the 2020 season.

The contract renewal will see Trek-Segafredo riders continue to train and race in KOO’s signature eyewear, including the likes of reigning UCI World Champion Mads Pedersen, multi-Grand Tour winner Vincenzo Nibali and former UCI World Champion Lizzie Deignan.

The team has enjoyed a memorable start to the year as Richie Porte and Ruth Winder sealed respective GC wins at the Santos Tour Down Under in January, Matteo Moschetti stormed to double race victory at Challenge Mallorca and Jasper Stuyven was crowned champion of the 2020 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in March.

Following months of uncertainty and virtual riding to help sustain momentum, both the men’s and women’s teams are poised and ready to resume the 2020 road racing season and will do so through the lenses of the technologically advanced KOO eyewear, which seamlessly combines optical clarity and a distinctive design.

While the men’s team is set to make its return to the road with the Vuelta a Burgos on 28 July, the women’s team is gearing up for three one-day races in Northern Spain (Emakumeen Nafarroaka Klasikoa on 23 July, Clásica Navarra de féminas on 24 July and Durango-Durango Emakumeen Saria on 26 July). Both teams will then look ahead to the first key race of the redefined UCI World Tour calendar: the Italian classic Strade Bianche on August 1st.

We are very happy to wear KOO for two more seasons and to provide our experience towards the growth of the brand

All riders will be wearing firm KOO Eyewear favorites – the cleverly designed, ventilation-focused KOO Open Cube and the anti-reflective KOO Orion, featuring gradient colour technology boosted by Zeiss lenses – in addition to the latest eagerly anticipated KOO innovations, which have been carefully developed in close collaboration with Trek-Segafredo riders.

Luca Guercilena, Trek-Segafredo General Manager, said: “Since the beginning, we have established a very solid exclusive collaboration with KOO. We’ve found an enthusiastic technical partner who, although young in the world of sports eyewear, has provided a high performance and top-quality product, providing the utmost attention to our needs and suggestions. We are very happy to wear KOO for two more seasons and to provide our experience towards the growth of the brand.”

Ylenia Battistello, KOO Sales and Marketing Director, said: “Following some fantastic achievements for Trek-Segafredo early in the 2020 season, we are excited to continue our partnership with such an experienced and accomplished set of riders – particularly when it comes to KOO’s product innovation. Working closely behind the scenes with both Trek-Segafredo teams has enabled us to harness their experience for continual product testing, feedback and refinement – all of which play a significant part in KOO’s development and ultimate product quality. This year, we have been working together on something new and we cannot wait to announce the product of our collaborative efforts.”
