With the 2025 Tour de France only days away, Visma-Lease a Bike have confirmed their eight-rider team as they aim to put Jonas Vingegaard back in yellow. The squad will rally around the two-time winner as he chases a third title.
Vingegaard will be supported by Simon Yates, who arrives after winning the Giro d’Italia, and by American star Sepp Kuss, winner of the 2023 Vuelta a España. Both riders add serious firepower in the high mountains, where Vingegaard is most at home.
Matteo Jorgenson returns after his eighth-place finish in 2024 and will play a crucial all-round role. Belgian powerhouse Wout van Aert will hunt for stage wins and could be a threat for the first yellow jersey on opening day in Lille, especially with a jersey designed for speed. Fellow Belgians Tiesj Benoot and Victor Campenaerts give the team versatility across hilly stages and flat terrain, while Italian time trial specialist Edoardo Affini will make his debut at the Tour.
“We believe in our plan,” says Niermann
In a team statement, directeur sportif Grischa Niermann was clear that everything is focused around Vingegaard:
“We believe in the plan we made for the Tour de France. From day one, we will have to be there as a team to optimally assist Jonas in the GC. In addition, there will be opportunities for several riders to go for stage wins. We are very deliberately focused on ourselves and our own plan. We have an optimal preparation behind us and with that, we think we can get the best possible result.”
Tour jerseys feature fan names
Both the men’s and women’s Visma-Lease a Bike teams will race in their new switch-out jersey, “The Swarm,” a bold yellow and black design covered in the names of thousands of supporters who pre-ordered the kit back in April.
With one of the most formidable squads in the peloton and meticulous preparation at altitude in Tignes, Vingegaard’s team will be ready to fight on every front when the Tour de France rolls out of Lille on 5 July.
