Vollering and team show strong performance in Tour of Flanders

The team lined up in full force for today’s monument. ‘De Ronde van Vlaanderen’, famously known for its hilly, cobble-lined terrain, gave us some spectacular racing again this year. In this unique Autumn edition, the team showed a really strong performance. Demi Vollering was well active in the final part of the race finishing off with a seventh place in her first Tour of Flanders.

The fifteenth women’s edition covered the brutal Koppenberg and other key climbs like the Oude Kwaremont and Paterburg. Team Parkhotel Valkenburg put in quite the effort with several riders in front of the peloton all day. The grand finale started at thirty kilometres from the finish in Oudenaarde where Demi Vollering positioned herself well in the first group amongst all the other favourites. Despite her strong efforts it was Chantal van den Broek-Blaak who took victory.

‘’This was my first Ronde van Vlaanderen and I loved the race! I enjoyed racing with this top team. Today we did a great job, the girls were well in the front. For one second I even thought I could keep up with Chantal when she attacked on the Oude Kwaremont, but she was by far the strongest today.’’ – Demi Vollering

Moving on to another team next year, Demi is grateful for the past years with Team Parkhotel Valkenburg. ‘’It’s such a crazy season but I’m very grateful to the entire team. Thanks to everyone’s efforts I’ve been able to grow over the past two years. I’m also grateful to all the sponsors, they made it possible for me to enjoy this job fulltime. I’m definitely going to miss this team.’’
