The curtain has fallen on the 2025 international road racing calendar, marking the end of another thrilling year that saw Grand Tours, Monuments and championships decided in spectacular fashion.

From a Giro d’Italia that went down to the wire, to a Tour de France Femmes won by a returning superstar, and spring Classics dominated by the peloton’s biggest names, 2025 delivered a season rich with storylines, records and breakout performances.

As racing wrapped up in China on Sunday, the year’s win tallies were finalised – and once again, two of the sport’s most dominant figures stood above the rest.

Riders with the most road wins during 2025

Lorena Wiebes – 25 wins (19 WorldTour)

No surprises here. Lorena Wiebes of Team SD Worx-Protime was the winningest rider of 2025, taking 25 road victories from just 53 race days. Her blistering sprint made her the favourite wherever a fast finish was on offer, and she duly delivered, setting a new personal best and surpassing every other rider in either peloton.

Nineteen of her wins came at WorldTour level – a remarkable ratio that included the inaugural Sanremo Women, the Dutch national title, two stages of the Tour de France Femmes, and complete domination of the Simac Ladies Tour, where she won five of six stages plus the overall. She also claimed four sprint classification jerseys across the season.

And that’s without counting her victories off the road: the Gravel World Championships, a Gravel World Series round, and the European omnium title on the track. In short, no one came close to matching Wiebes’ sheer volume and versatility.

Tadej Pogačar – 20 wins (17 WorldTour)

On the men’s side, Tadej Pogačar once again led the way with 20 victories, though his margin over the rest was slimmer than usual. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG leader was pushed all the way to the final week by French sprinter Paul Magnier, who finished the season just one win behind on 19.

Still, in terms of quality, no one could touch Pogačar. His 2025 campaign included three Monuments, the Tour de France, and the World Championships – achievements that place him in rare company. Seventeen of his victories came at WorldTour level, underlining the scale of his dominance.

Paul Magnier – 19 wins (6 WorldTour)

Few expected 21-year-old Paul Magnier of Soudal-QuickStep to push Pogačar so close, but the Frenchman finished the year as the sport’s breakout sprinter. Most of his 19 wins came in .Pro and .1 races, yet the sheer quantity was impressive: four stages at the Tour of Slovakia, four at the CRO Race, and five at the Tour of Guangxi, including his final win of the season.

Sharing leadership duties with Tim Merlier, Magnier will aim to turn quantity into higher-level quality next season.

Isaac del Toro – 16 wins (1 WorldTour)

UAE Team Emirates rider Isaac del Toro continued his rapid rise with 16 victories, almost adding a Giro d’Italia title to the tally. The Mexican’s attacking flair brought him success across Pro-level races, although only one came at WorldTour level – his Giro stage win. His next step will be converting consistency into marquee results.

Tim Merlier – 16 wins (8 WorldTour)

Soudal-QuickStep’s Tim Merlier matched his 2024 total with 16 wins, including eight at the top level. Two of those came at the Tour de France, confirming his place among the sport’s elite sprinters.

Mads Pedersen – 14 wins (7 WorldTour)

Mads Pedersen of Lidl–Trek enjoyed a powerhouse season, highlighted by four Giro d’Italia stage wins, the points classification, and another points jersey at the Vuelta a España. Add a Gent–Wevelgem victory and multiple uphill sprints, and the Dane’s 14 wins underline his versatility.

Matthew Brennan – 14 wins (4 WorldTour)

It was a breakthrough year for Matthew Brennan, who turned 20 and already took four WorldTour victories. Built in the mould of Peter Sagan, the young Brit is quickly becoming one of the peloton’s most exciting all-rounders.

Dušan Rajović – 14 wins (0 WorldTour)

Serbia’s Dušan Rajović quietly put together one of the year’s most prolific campaigns with 14 wins for Team Solution Tech–Vini Fantini. Only four came at the professional level, but his race-winning instinct was undeniable. Despite that, he’s yet to confirm a contract for 2026 – a surprise, given his form.

U23 talent Jarno Widar capped a brilliant year with 13 wins, including stages at the Tour de l’Avenir, Ronde de l’Isard, and Giro Next Gen, as well as the European U23 road title. The Belgian will turn professional in 2026 with the new Lotto–Intermarché project.

Marlen Reusser – 11 wins (7 WorldTour)

Marlen Reusser of Movistar Team produced another exemplary season, taking 11 victories, seven of them at WorldTour level. Her season peaked with the World Time Trial Championship, overall victory at the Tour de Suisse, and an opening-stage win at the Giro d’Italia Women, cementing her reputation as one of the sport’s most complete riders.

Demi Vollering – 11 wins (6 WorldTour)

Racing for FDJ-Suez, Demi Vollering matched Reusser’s tally with 11 wins. Though she ended the year as one of the top performers in the women’s peloton, she will likely reflect on near-misses more than triumphs, having fallen short of both the Tour de France Femmes and the World Championships. Victories at Strade Bianche and the European Championships nonetheless ensured another strong season.

Olav Kooij – 11 wins (5 WorldTour)

Olav Kooij of Team Visma | Lease a Bike rounded out the list of double-digit winners with 11 victories, including two stages at the Giro d’Italia and overall success at the Tour of Britain. His next goal will be to add more Grand Tour wins as he continues his rise among the world’s best sprinters.

Across both pelotons, 2025 was defined by records, rivalries and emerging talent. Wiebes and Pogačar stood tall as the year’s most prolific winners, but the depth of competition below them suggests that 2026 is already shaping up to be another season to remember.
