Laura Verdonschot (Retired)
Laura Verdonschot is a retired Belgian cyclist who specialised in cyclocross while also competing on the road during her career. One of Belgium’s strongest cyclocross riders outside the dominant Sanne Cant era, she collected numerous international victories and repeatedly finished on the podium at the Belgian championships. Verdonschot enjoyed some of her best seasons late in her career, including a fifth-place finish at the 2024 World Championships, before retiring from competitive cycling in February 2026.

Career overview
Verdonschot emerged as one of Belgium’s leading young cyclocross riders, winning two national under-23 titles and taking silver at the 2017 European under-23 championships. She went on to claim numerous international victories, including wins at Rucphen, Hulst and Maldegem, while repeatedly challenging for the Belgian elite title. One of her strongest championship performances came at the 2024 World Championships in Tábor, where she finished fifth. Verdonschot continued racing with De Ceuster-Bouwpunt into the 2025-26 cyclocross season but decided to end her career after struggling to return consistently to her previous level. Her final race came in Oostmalle on 22nd February 2026, bringing a 17-year competitive career to a close.
