New Zealand’s Ally Wollaston has confirmed her move to FDJ-SUEZ on a two-year contract, starting in 2025. The 23-year-old cyclist, currently riding for AG Insurance-Soudal, will bring her growing reputation as a talented all-rounder to the French team after a highly successful 2024 season. The confirmation of the rumoured transfer was made today by her future FDJ-Suez team.
The Auckland-born rider, who has already claimed nine UCI race victories, including standout wins at the Tour Down Under and Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, will be a key addition to FDJ-SUEZ. Team General Manager Stephen Delcourt expressed his excitement about securing Wollastonโs services: “It is with great pride that the team announces the arrival of Ally Wollaston, who will wear our colours for the next two seasons. We have been watching Allyโs rise for several seasons, for her speed, versatility and attacking spirit.”
Wollaston, who has shone both on the road and the track, will be expected to continue her development and contribute to the teamโs ambitions. In 2024, she secured wins on tough stages and sprint finishes, including her victory at the Tour Down Under and a first-place finish on stage 3 of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya in June.
Looking ahead to her move, Wollaston shared her excitement about joining FDJ-SUEZ: “I am very happy with the opportunity that FDJ-SUEZ is offering me, and I am looking forward to expressing my full potential on the road and learning from the team leaders. I am convinced that we will be competitive on all terrains, and I am looking forward to making my contribution.”
The recruitment of Wollaston is seen as a significant move for FDJ-SUEZ, with the team aiming to strengthen its roster with a rider who has shown the ability to compete at the highest level. Having also represented New Zealand at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where she took silver in the team pursuit and bronze in the omnium, Wollastonโs versatility will make her a valuable asset in various terrains.
As part of FDJ-SUEZโs plans for the coming years, Wollaston will take on dual rolesโtargeting individual victories on difficult terrains while supporting the teamโs leaders in more demanding races. Her ability to compete across different types of races, from hilly classics to sprint stages, will be crucial to the teamโs ambitions in the Women’s WorldTour.
Wollaston has already had a busy and fruitful 2024 season, including top performances in races like the Ford RideLondon Classique, where she finished 7th overall, and a 14th place at Dwars door de Westhoek on the 2nd of June. Her move to FDJ-SUEZ is seen as a step forward in her career, as she continues to grow into one of cyclingโs most exciting young talents.
