Amandine Fouquenet : I am not disappointed with my race

3rd in Liévin, Amandine Fouquenet looks back on her performance at the 2022 French Cyclo-cross Championships, contested on a very greasy circuit which did not tolerate the slightest technical error.

“I didn’t start as I usually do because I couldn’t click my pedal properly, but still managed to get off to a good start. I took the lead quickly because I prefer to run in front on cyclocross. I didn’t have good legs at the start so I didn’t continue my effort, and my opponents came back on me. When they did the junction, I stayed in the wheel, but unfortunately I crashed and lost ten to fifteen seconds. It was hard to plug the hole, then.

The muddy course offered quite a few running passages, did I waste time in those areas, I’m not sure. But I don’t think so. I am not disappointed with my race, nor with my third place given the level of my opponents. I’m happy to be on the podium. The season is not over yet, and we must not give up. I now have two rounds of the World Cup to play, including that of Flamanville in France, and undoubtedly the World Cyclo-cross Championships in the United States”.
