Amandine Fouquenet: I am proud of what I have achieved

Amandine Fouquenet will put her titles of French Elite and Upside Cyclo-cross Champion on the line this Sunday in Liรฉvin.

Interview.

Champion of France

It was something magical to experience this cyclo-cross season with the French Champion jersey. I was proud to wear it, I was able to show it by winning four times at the national level. I am also winning the general classification of the Coupe de France women. I finished in the top 10 in a World Cup race. I see that I continue to improve year after year, this is the most important to me.

The first time I wore the jersey

This jersey is a symbol, it stands for a lot of things, so the very first time I put it on I was mostly afraid of just not being up to it, period. But I think I honoured it well, I’m happy and proud of what I did with it.

Liรฉvin’s journey

I went to the site of the French Championship this year, but the course was not yet marked out. I know that the Val Souchez circuit may suit me because many people tell me that its layout corresponds to my qualities, after that all the planets must be aligned on โ€œDโ€ day. The competition is strong this year, but I will fight to try to keep this French Champion jersey. I’ll give it my all, and we’ll see the day in the field anyway.
