The MET Trenta has moved on substantially since the version originally covered here. The current flagship is the MET Trenta 3K Carbon Airframe MIPS, a 260g road helmet in size medium with 24 vents, Mips Air Node and an internal 3K carbon structure designed to create more uninterrupted airflow through the helmet.
That makes this less a conventional update and more a new generation of the same idea: a lightweight race helmet that prioritises ventilation without abandoning aerodynamic shaping.

What changed with the 3K Carbon Airframe?
The defining feature is the carbon wing structure integrated into the helmet. MET uses it to reduce the amount of internal EPS needed in key areas, opening a clearer path for air through the shell.
MET claims 16% more airflow than the previous generation, while the updated helmet also carries a Virginia Tech five-star rating. Those figures are more useful than vague claims about a helmet making a rider faster simply because it looks aerodynamic.
Ventilation and fit
Twenty-four vents and the reduced internal contact area make cooling the obvious strength of the new model. Sunglasses ports are integrated into the shell, while the fit system allows vertical and circumference adjustment.
As always with helmets, head shape matters more than a specification sheet. A premium helmet that creates pressure points is a worse choice than a cheaper one that fits properly.
Is the MET Trenta still a race helmet?

Verdict for 2026
The current Trenta is a much more convincing product than simply keeping the old model on sale with new colours. The Airframe design materially changes the internal structure and ventilation, while the weight remains competitive for a fully featured Mips road helmet.
It is still expensive, even discounted. Riders paying for it should be doing so because the fit, ventilation and low weight suit them, not because a premium helmet automatically delivers measurable extra speed.
