Another bunch sprint on stage 5 of the Giro Donne

Stage 5 of the Giro Donne finished in another bunch sprint into the centre of Reggio Emilia today. The stage was won by Elisa Balsamo (TFS) with Soraya Paladin sprinting to 18th place.

“It was a hectic finale. I was in quite a good position with 1km to go, and (Sarah) Roy was strong in the lead-out but then on the final corner I missed the good wheels, and those are the ones that sprinted for the top places,” said Soraya.

“Tomorrow’s stage is one that suits us better and we’re looking forward to it.”
