After a period of speculation, Australian cyclist Caleb Ewan has signed a one-year contract with Ineos Grenadiers for the 2025 season. Initially, Ewan was expected to continue with the Jayco-AIUIa team this year, marking his second year with the Australian WorldTour team. However, his absence from the 2025 line-up sparked discussions about a potential move, although the reasons behind this shift remain unclear. Speculation is that Ewan was set to leave the team and join Astana in the Autumn before that move fell through.
With Italian sprinter Elia Viviani parting ways with Ineos Grenadiers in 2025, the British team was left with a gap in their sprinting line-up. Ewan, now 30 years old, is set to bolster their sprinting capabilities. His impressive record includes 11 Grand Tour stage victories: five at the Tour de France, five at the Giro dโItalia, and one at the Vuelta a Espaรฑa. His career boasts over 60 victories, including stages at the UAE Tour, Tour of Britain, and Tour Down Under. In 2024, Ewan secured stage wins at the Tour of Oman, Vuelta a Burgos, and Vuelta a Castilla y Leรณn.
Ewan is among six new riders joining Ineos Grenadiers for the 2025 season. Other new additions include fellow Australian and Jayco rider Lucas Hamilton, promising French rider and former U23 World Champion Axel Laurance, and seasoned Luxembourg cyclist Bob Jungels.
Ewan expressed his enthusiasm regarding the new chapter with Ineos Grenadiers, stating, “This is a really exciting new challenge for me and a fantastic opportunity to get back to my best with the incredible support of Ineos Grenadiers.” He remains focused on regaining his form and achieving victories in major races, believing in the expertise that Ineos can provide to help him reach these goals.
Though his race schedule for 2025 is yet to be determined, Ewan is eager to collaborate with the team to shape an exciting race calendar that aligns with both their strategies and his ambitions.
