Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig will leave FDJ-Suez at the end of the 2024 season after five years with the French squad, confirming her move to Canyon SRAM for 2025. The Danish rider, 29, signed a two-year contract with the German team, looking ahead to a fresh chapter in her career.

The announcement, made on Thursday via her social media, marks the end of an era for Uttrup Ludwig at FDJ-Suez, where she has notched up a series of notable results. Her wins include a stage at the 2022 Tour de France Femmes and the overall title at the Tour of Scandinavia that same year.

Uttrup Ludwig expressed her enthusiasm for the move, noting that sheโ€™s eager to join a team known for its bold, attacking racing style. โ€œI love the teamโ€™s aggressive racing style and not being afraid to lose,โ€ she said. โ€œI am sure I will fit right in with this kind of racing. That is exactly the type of rider I aim and want to be.โ€

The 2024 season has been a tough one for the Danish climber, marked by crashes and illness, but she remains optimistic about her future with Canyon SRAM. โ€œI really want to put all this behind me and get back to my old form,โ€ she explained. โ€œIn this way, I can contribute to a super dynamic team and reach our goals together.โ€

Uttrup Ludwig also reflected on how she has drawn strength from difficult times, recalling the 2022 Tour de France Femmes as a defining moment. โ€œMost of the team crashed on stage 2, and we lost a lot of time in the general classification. But the day after, we managed to bounce back and win the stage. Thatโ€™s one of the proudest moments of my career. Never give up,โ€ she said.

Her departure from FDJ-Suez, alongside the retirements of key riders like Grace Brown, leaves the team in transition. However, the addition of riders like Juliette Labous from DSM and the rumoured arrival of Demi Vollering suggests FDJ-Suez is wasting no time reshaping its roster.

Meanwhile, Canyon SRAM is already positioning itself for success in the 2025 season. With Uttrup Ludwig joining Kasia Niewiadoma, the team will have a strong lineup for stage races and one-day classics. The team hailed the signing of the Danish star, calling her a perfect fit for their approach to racing.

Uttrup Ludwig, who counts 18 wins in her palmarรจs, including four Danish national titles, is determined to hit the ground running with her new squad. โ€œItโ€™s clear from my talks with the team that the support from the team and its staff is very professional, and I feel confident that they will help me in my further development as a rider. Bring on 2025,โ€ she concluded.
