Elise Chabbey, the 31-year-old Swiss rider, has signed a two-year contract with FDJ-SUEZ, marking a significant shift in her career as she looks to add more victories to her palmarรจs. The team, known for its ambitious recruitment, expressed their excitement at securing Chabbey’s signature for the 2025 season.

“Elise Chabbey is one of the great talents of the professional peloton,” said Stephen Delcourt, General Manager of FDJ-SUEZ. “Sheโ€™s an aggressive and extremely durable athlete, capable of transforming a locked race all by herself. She has the legs to secure that big win which is missing from her record, and itโ€™s up to us to guide her towards that goal. Elise will undoubtedly be one of our most important assets as we aim for a Grand Tour general classification victory. Her signing is fantastic news for the team.”

Chabbeyโ€™s versatility is well documented, having excelled across multiple terrains and competitions. She became the first Swiss athlete to compete in two different disciplines at the Olympics, representing her country in K1 kayaking at the London 2012 Games before switching to road cycling for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Chabbey has steadily built an impressive CV, highlighted by her victory in the Swiss Road Championships in 2020, a 4th place in Paris-Roubaix in 2022, and 3rd overall at the Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta in 2021.

More recently, she secured the mountains classification at the 2024 Tour de Suisse and finished 4th in both Liรจge-Bastogne-Liรจge and the Vuelta a Burgos. Chabbeyโ€™s consistency has placed her among the top 20 riders in the UCI world rankings, solidifying her place as a major force in women’s cycling.

Her decision to join FDJ-SUEZ was a carefully considered one. “This decision to join FDJ-SUEZ was a long process,” said Chabbey. “The team can help me take the next step and go after a big victory. Winning races is a goal, but Iโ€™m also excited to support my leaders in the Grand Tours, especially with the unique ambition of winning the Tour de France in the jersey of a French team.”

Chabbey, who also holds a degree in medicine and won the prestigious Walthard Prize in 2020 for her exceptional academic and sporting achievements, brings a wealth of experience to her new team. She also took part in the 2012 Olympics in the kayak event. As the 2025 season approaches, all eyes will be on her next chapter with FDJ-SUEZ, as she continues to build on a career that includes podium finishes in some of the toughest races in womenโ€™s cycling.
