GC and jerseys after Tour Auvergne – Rhône-Alpes 2026 stage 7

20260613TARA0141- Isaac del Toro - Gaetan Flamme

Isaac del Toro turned the Tour Auvergne – Rhône-Alpes general classification inside out on stage 7, winning on the Grand Colombier and moving firmly into contention before the final day. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider was the strongest on the summit finish, taking the stage in 3:41:41 after a 131.1km mountain test from La Bridoire.

Luke Tuckwell survived in yellow, but the race tightened sharply behind him. The Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe rider remains the overall leader on 25:59:09, with Matteo Jorgenson now second at 42 seconds and Del Toro third at 49 seconds. Juan Ayuso also climbed to fourth at 1:06, giving Lidl-Trek a serious GC card heading into the final stage.

The result leaves the race finely balanced before stage 8 to Plateau de Solaison – Brison. Tuckwell still has the jersey, but his advantage is no longer comfortable. Jorgenson has moved into the closest chasing position, Del Toro has the climbing momentum, and Ayuso remains close enough to keep the pressure on if the final summit finish opens up early.

Tour Auvergne – Rhône-Alpes 2026 general classification after stage 7

  1. Luke Tuckwell, Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, 25:59:09
  2. Matteo Jorgenson, Team Visma | Lease a Bike, +42 seconds
  3. Isaac del Toro, UAE Team Emirates-XRG, +49 seconds
  4. Juan Ayuso, Lidl-Trek, +1:06
  5. Tobias Halland Johannessen, Uno-X Mobility, +1:33
  6. Paul Seixas, Decathlon CMA CGM Team, +1:54
  7. Mattias Skjelmose, Lidl-Trek, +1:59
  8. Cian Uijtdebroeks, Movistar Team, +2:17
  9. José Félix Parra, XDS Astana Team, +2:33
  10. Cristian Rodriguez, Caja Rural – Seguros RGA, +3:02

Del Toro’s rise is the most significant change. He began the day outside the immediate yellow jersey picture, but his Grand Colombier win has put him within 49 seconds of Tuckwell and only seven seconds behind Jorgenson. More importantly, he looked like the strongest pure climber among the main contenders.

Jorgenson is now the nearest threat to yellow. Team Visma | Lease a Bike have lost Wout van Aert from the race, but Jorgenson has kept their GC challenge alive and will start the final stage close enough to win overall if Tuckwell shows weakness.

Ayuso’s move into fourth also keeps Lidl-Trek central to the final day. With Mattias Skjelmose seventh overall, they have two riders inside the top 10 and the team classification lead to protect. That gives them options, although the GC fight may demand a more aggressive approach if they want to overhaul Tuckwell rather than simply defend a strong race position.

Paul Seixas remains sixth overall after a difficult day that included a crash, but he is still inside two minutes of yellow. His own reaction after the stage was blunt, admitting he had taken too many risks on the descent and paid for it. The time loss makes the final stage harder for him, but not impossible if the race becomes chaotic on the last climb.

Points classification after stage 7

Nadav Raisberg continues to lead the green jersey competition with 62 points. His advantage has been built through consistency, intermediate sprints and breakaway racing rather than through bunch-sprint dominance, which reflects the unusual shape of this year’s race.

  1. Nadav Raisberg, NSN Cycling Team, 62 points
  2. Raúl García Pierna, Movistar Team, 46 points
  3. Henri-François Renard-Haquin, Team Picnic PostNL, 38 points
  4. Jordan Jegat, TotalEnergies, 34 points
  5. Hugo Hofstetter, NSN Cycling Team, 28 points

With one mountainous stage remaining, this is still not a traditional sprinter’s points battle. Raisberg’s lead is useful, but the final day could still reward another breakaway if the GC teams allow the early move room before the last climb.

Clément Braz Afonso keeps the polka-dot jersey with 40 points, giving Groupama-FDJ United control of the mountains classification before the final stage. Del Toro’s win lifted him to 21 points, level with Tobias Halland Johannessen, while Clément Berthet is also close enough to keep the contest alive.

  1. Clément Braz Afonso, Groupama-FDJ United, 40 points
  2. Isaac del Toro, UAE Team Emirates-XRG, 21 points
  3. Tobias Halland Johannessen, Uno-X Mobility, 21 points
  4. Clément Berthet, Groupama-FDJ United, 20 points
  5. Alex Baudin, EF Education-EasyPost, 14 points

Braz Afonso has the clear advantage, but the final stage contains enough climbing to make the jersey worth defending properly. The complication is that Del Toro and Johannessen are also racing for the overall podium, so points picked up during the GC fight could still change the complexion of the competition.

Tuckwell also leads the white jersey classification. Because he holds yellow, Juan Ayuso is expected to wear the white jersey on the road.

  1. Luke Tuckwell, Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, 25:59:09
  2. Isaac del Toro, UAE Team Emirates-XRG, +49 seconds
  3. Juan Ayuso, Lidl-Trek, +1:06
  4. Paul Seixas, Decathlon CMA CGM Team, +1:54
  5. Cian Uijtdebroeks, Movistar Team, +2:17

This classification is effectively tied to the overall race. Tuckwell leads both, Del Toro is within striking distance, and Ayuso is close enough that a strong final climb could yet put him back into the conversation. Seixas and Uijtdebroeks remain outsiders for white, but both still sit close enough to gain places if the final stage produces another shake-up.

Team classification after stage 7

Lidl-Trek lead the team classification after stage 7, helped by Ayuso and Skjelmose both sitting inside the top 10 overall. Groupama-FDJ United remain second, but Lidl-Trek now have the strongest collective position among the GC teams.

  1. Lidl-Trek, 78:17:01
  2. Groupama-FDJ United, +1:14

That gives Lidl-Trek another target to defend on the final day. Ayuso can still aim at the overall podium, Skjelmose gives them depth, and the team classification offers a clear fallback if the yellow jersey proves out of reach.

Yellow jersey: Luke Tuckwell, Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe
Green jersey: Nadav Raisberg, NSN Cycling Team
Polka-dot jersey: Clément Braz Afonso, Groupama-FDJ United
White jersey: Luke Tuckwell, Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe
White jersey worn by: Juan Ayuso, Lidl-Trek
Team classification: Lidl-Trek
Combativity prize: Paul Seixas, Decathlon CMA CGM Team

The final stage now has every ingredient needed for another late GC change. Tuckwell still leads, but the margin has narrowed. Jorgenson is close enough to win the race, Del Toro has the climbing form, Ayuso has Lidl-Trek’s depth behind him, and Seixas still has enough ambition to animate the final day. The Plateau de Solaison will decide whether Tuckwell’s defence holds, or whether the Grand Colombier was only the start of the race’s decisive turn.
