Giro Donne: “Team did everything possible to support Sabrina Stultiens and Pauliena Rooijakkers”

The ninth stage of the Giro d’Italia Donne was without a doubt the queen stage on Saturday. Liv Racing tried to support its strongest climbers as best it could. Sabrina Stultiens performed particularly well. Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio won the stage.

“We performed really well on and after the second category climb. There were five of our riders in front. The goal was to support Sabrina Stultiens and Pauliena Rooijakkers as much as possible. They would have a free role on the gruelling final climb. To help them later on, Soraya Paladin counterattacked in the run-up to the foot of Monte Matajur. At that moment there were already two leaders in the race”, says sports director Eric van den Boom.

“Sabrina Stultiens then climbed very well. Unfortunately, Pauliena Rooijakkers did not fare so well. Due to health problems, she had to abandon on the final climb.”
