Hannah Barnes 16th in Gent Wevelgem

Hannah Barnes was our best-placed rider in a wet and wild Gent Wevelgem. A change to the parcours, with a new order of climbs created a small group after the second ascent of the Kemmelbergy climb. A small group of ten riders contested the sprint finish, with Jolien dโ€™Hoore (DLT) winning.

โ€œWe raced well, and Hannah was well-positioned into the early climbs and also the gravel plugstreet sections. Itโ€™s just unfortunate she couldnโ€™t make that front group the second time over the Kemmelberg,โ€ said Tiffany.

โ€œThen it was Alena and I chasing to try to bring the group back. From 40 seconds we got within about 6 seconds I think it was, but unfortunately not enough to give Hannah the chance to sprint.โ€

Hannah said, โ€œJust one mistake and that cost the chance to go for a result. Itโ€™s disappointing because for the rest of the race I was positioned well and part of all the important moves. Thatโ€™s how it went.โ€

The team will now prepare for the highlight of the classics, Ronde van Vlaanderen on Sunday 17 October.
