Career overview
Barnes was one of Britain’s most successful sprint and one-day riders of the 2010s, with a career that included national titles, stage wins and a long spell at the top level. She won the British national road race title in 2016 and the British national time-trial title in 2017, alongside victories at the Tour of Chongming Island, The Women’s Tour, Setmana Ciclista Valenciana and a stage of the Giro d’Italia Donne. Barnes spent six seasons with Canyon SRAM after earlier success at UnitedHealthcare, then moved to Uno-X for the final phase of her career. She retired at the end of 2023 after two difficult seasons affected by health and form issues.
