Lotto Dstny Ladies have announced the signing of Kloe Saugrain, an 18-year-old French rider who currently races for Avesnois, a French club team. Saugrain, who hails from Neuville-En-Ferrain, near the Belgian border, has signed a two-year contract with the Belgian team. Known for her familiarity with the Flemish cobblestones, Saugrain is excited about this next step in her career.
“I often train on the Flemish cobblestones and really enjoy it,” Saugrain shared, reflecting on her close proximity to Belgium from her hometown. She described joining Lotto Dstny as a “logical step” in her development.
Saugrain has already made her mark in several races, finishing second in the Boucles Guégonnaises and securing third place in the BayWa.re Classique Féminine last season. Despite these achievements, she remains focused on growth. “Though it’s certainly too early to put myself into a specific category, I mainly want to keep learning. But a race like Paris-Roubaix is already high on my wishlist,” she revealed.
Kurt Van de Wouwer, sports manager at Lotto Dstny, expressed his enthusiasm for the young rider’s future with the team. “In terms of her racing programme, she will get what she’s looking for with us. Flemish races suit her well,” he noted. Van de Wouwer also recognised the team’s focus on developing young talent, stating that Saugrain “definitely deserves her place on our team.”
For Saugrain, her new role at Lotto Dstny represents both an opportunity to refine her abilities as a sprinter-puncher and to continue her development in the competitive world of cycling.
