Leah Thomas (Retired)
Leah Thomas is a retired American cyclist who developed into one of the strongest time-trial and stage-racing riders in the United States. A relatively late arrival to professional cycling, she combined excellent ability against the clock with the endurance needed for demanding stage races and selective one-day events. Thomas won the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l’Ardèche and Women’s Tour of Scotland overall, became Pan American time-trial champion and finished third at Strade Bianche before ending her professional career after the 2022 season.

Career overview
Thomas took up cycling seriously after university and quickly progressed into professional racing with the TWENTY16 programme. She won the Tour de Feminin overall in 2018 before enjoying a breakthrough 2019 season that included the Pan American time-trial title, overall victory at the Women’s Tour of Scotland and victory at Chrono des Nations. Thomas finished third at Strade Bianche in 2020 and joined Movistar for 2021, winning the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l’Ardèche overall. She moved to Trek-Segafredo in 2022 and became United States time-trial champion before finishing fifth at the World Championships. Persistent neck problems ultimately forced her to step away from racing at the end of that season.
