Lisa Brennauer (Retired)

Lisa Brennauer is a retired German cyclist who was one of the most complete road and track riders of her generation. A world champion against the clock, Olympic team pursuit champion and prolific stage racer, she combined exceptional time-trial ability with a powerful sprint and strong one-day racing. Brennauer won major stage races including The Women’s Tour, Thüringen Ladies Tour and Challenge by La Vuelta, while also collecting numerous German national titles before retiring in August 2022.

Career overview

Brennauer turned professional in 2009 and developed into one of Germany’s most successful modern cyclists. She became individual time-trial world champion in 2014, when she also took silver in the World Championship road race, and won three consecutive trade-team team time-trial world titles. Her stage-racing victories included The Women’s Tour, Thüringen Ladies Tour, Boels Ladies Tour and two editions of Challenge by La Vuelta. On the track, Brennauer became Olympic team pursuit champion at Tokyo 2020 and later won world titles in both the individual and team pursuit. She completed her final professional season with Ceratizit-WNT in 2022, retiring after the European Championships in Munich.
