Looking for a medal in the Spanish elite and sub-23 Road Cycling Championships in Mallorca

The riders of the UCI Rio Miera-Cantabria Deporte team attend the Spanish elite and sub-23 Road Cycling Championships in Mallorca this weekend eager to do well. It won’t be easy because the level is very high, but our cyclists will seek to continue their good form in one of the main events of the year and one of the most relevant.

The background is very good since in 2019 Irene Méndez was a silver medalist on the road and in 2021 Isabel Martín finished second in the CRI in the sub-23 category.

Route and Schedules

On Friday from 9 in the morning it will be the turn of the CRI in elite and sub-23 over 21.3 kilometers of course in Cala Millor.

For Saturday from 09:35 wait for the elite and sub-23 online test. The cyclists will face 136.5 kilometers between San Llorenç and Palma de Mallorca.

For the team’s Sports Director, Roberto San Emeterio, “it is one of the most important events on the calendar that comes after the good taste in our mouths that the Spanish Cup left us with the under-23 victory with Susana Pérez. For us it is the first time that we have achieved it in this category and we are very happy to take another step. We are going to the Spanish Championship with great desire and enthusiasm. The precedents make us optimistic since last year in La Nucía Isabel Martín was second in the CRI sub-23 test and fourth in the absolute. This year she will be in the elite category but we trust her a lot. We are awaiting the confirmation of Carolina Esteban in the time trial together with Ania Horcajada in the sub-23 category. As for the online test, given the state of form that Carolina Esteban and Susana Pérez are going through, we are confident that with good previous work from the team they will be up in the second part of the U23 race and, although it will not be easy , they can bring a medal. Regarding the elite, we have a good group with runners like Isa Martín who can do very well in Mallorca”.
