Maghalie Rochette makes drastic decision as recovery struggles continue

Canadian cyclocross rider Maghalie Rochette has decided to conclude her season ahead of schedule. Facing ongoing health challenges, Rochette has been battling multiple viruses and has found her recovery insufficient.

“To say I’m sad and disappointed would be an understatement,” Rochette expressed on Instagram. “I’ve been unwell consistently over the past few weeks, which has prevented me from racing since mid-December. I attempted to refocus on the World Championships, but my body isn’t recovering as it should. The more I try, the worse my condition becomes.”

Rochette’s previous performances have secured her a regular spot in the top 10 at the World Championships. Last year, she finished tenth in Tabor, with additional placements of ninth in Hoogerheide and seventh in Fayetteville.

Focus shifts to health

Recognising the importance of her well-being, Rochette has made the tough decision to prioritise her health. “I’ve decided to end my season and concentrate on my recovery. I’m currently awaiting test results to better understand what’s happening with my health. I’m looking forward to adventures on the bike again, but I need to be completely healthy first.”
