Manon de Boer sprints to victory in the Porec Trophy Ladies

Manon de Boer claimed victory in the Porec Trophy Ladies (UCI 1.2) on Sunday. The 29-year-old Dutch rider, racing for DD Group Pro Cycling Team, outsprinted Poland’s Malwina Mul after 107.9 kilometres between Porec and Tar.

While the route did not feature any major climbs, it was far from an easy race. The riders faced an undulating course with continuous elevation changes, making for a selective race. The peloton tackled five local laps around Tar, which gradually reduced the front group to a select few.

De Boer and Mul emerged as the two strongest riders, distancing the rest of the field. In the final sprint, De Boer proved the faster of the two, securing an important win for herself and her team.

A breakthrough result for De Boer

This season marks De Boer’s debut at the continental level, having previously raced for club team NWVG-Uplus. In 2024, she showed strong performances, winning the Dutch national title in the elite without a contract category. She also finished fifth overall in the Tour de Feminin (2.2) in the Czech Republic and third in Ireland’s Rás na mBan.

DD Group Pro Cycling Team was well represented, with Belgian Julie Vlyminck finishing tenth, 23 seconds behind her winning teammate. Marieke Goossenaerts crossed the line in 35th, while Cato Cassiers finished 44th.

For De Boer, this is the biggest international win of her career so far and a promising start to her first full season at the continental level.
