Movistar unveil ‘Iceberg’ kit for 2023 Tour de France & Femmes

As they gear up for the most prestigious events in the cycling calendar – the Tour de France (July 1-23) and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift (July 23-30), Movistar Team, Gobik, and Telefónica are collaboratively launching a new cycling collection, ‘Iceberg’. This will be sported by the 15 riders participating in the French grand tours during their respective ‘Grands Départs’ in Bilbao and Clermont-Ferrand.

The ‘Iceberg’ kit is designed with four key objectives in mind: enhancing technical performance through innovative clothing technologies, ensuring sustainable production using new materials and processes, presenting the Movistar Team in a novel, unique design for the highlight of the 2023 season, and promoting social awareness with a focus on ocean conservation.

The ‘Iceberg’ kit, predominantly white with blue details consistent with the team’s current design, plus white stitching on the bib shorts, symbolises the ocean’s endangered ice blocks. This is a stark message against the climate crisis that Movistar Team, Gobik, and Telefónica are boldly addressing.

The garments in the ‘Iceberg’ kit are crafted using fabrics composed of at least 60% recycled plastic (from bottles, fishing nets, and production surpluses). This makes them the most eco-friendly kits a team has ever worn in the Tour de France. The ‘Iceberg’ collection forms part of the ‘Ride to Cut’ project initiated by Gobik.

The apparel, designed to reflect heat, offer improved UV protection, and enhance road visibility for both competitors and customers, is produced at Gobik’s facility in Yecla, Murcia (Spain), with the aim of minimising environmental, social, and economic impacts.

The kits worn by the Movistar Team will be signed and auctioned to contribute to international initiatives and programmes dedicated to ocean conservation. The team encourages its supporters to contribute to these campaigns where possible. Details about the auction and how to make contributions will be shared in the days preceding the start of the Tour.
