Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe has launched their new dark blue kits, white Specialized bikes, and the eight-man squad for the 2024 Tour de France during an official event at Red Bull Hangar-7 in Salzburg. The international energy drinks company’s logo is prominently displayed on the new Sportful jerseys, set to debut at the Tour’s Grand Départ on Saturday. This sponsorship marks a new era for the German team.

Ralph Denk, CEO of the team, described the event as a milestone. “Today we open a new chapter in our team’s history as Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe. I would even go so far as to say that this is a milestone for cycling as a whole,” he said.

Team leader Primož Roglič, who moved from Jumbo-Visma at the end of 2023, was present alongside other key riders. “With the new setup, the team is ready to fight for yellow in the biggest race of the year,” Roglič stated. He will be supported by 2022 Giro d’Italia winner Jai Hindley, Aleksandr Vlasov, Bob Jungels, Nico Denz, Matteo Sobrero, Marco Haller, and Danny van Poppel.

The team will don the famous blue, red, yellow, and silver Red Bull-branded helmets throughout the three-week race. “Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe relies on a strong team surrounding leader Primož Roglič,” read a statement from the team. “On the climbs, the leader relies on climbing specialists Aleksandr Vlasov and Jai Hindley. Both have only one Tour de France under their belts – but they were spectacular firsts for both.”

Red Bull was confirmed as the majority 51% owner and title sponsor of the team in May, bringing a larger budget, new riders, and an Under 23 development team. The ambitious project aims to win the Tour de France and establish the team as the best in the sport. Roglič is considered one of the top favourites for the Tour, alongside GC contenders Tadej Pogačar, Jonas Vingegaard, and Remco Evenepoel.

The launch event showcased the new S-Works Tarmac SL8 LTD: Red Bull-BORA-Hansgrohe Edition bike, designed by Tom Briggs, the Lead Concept Graphic Designer at Specialized. The custom-painted bike features a ‘Sticker Slap’ design inspired by youth culture and 90’s skateboarding aesthetics. This model will be limited to 500 individually numbered bikes worldwide, priced at $16,000.

The bike is fitted with the latest Sram Red AXS groupset, Hammerhead Karoo computer, Roval’s Rapide CLX II Team wheels, and Specialized Turbo cotton tyres. A size 56cm bike weighs in at 6.66kg. The team’s goal is clear: to secure victory at the Tour de France with their new setup.
