Sara Van De Vel (Retired)
Sara Van de Vel is a retired Belgian cyclist and former elite triathlete who specialised in time-trialling. She moved into professional road racing in 2020 after a successful triathlon career and quickly became one of Belgium’s strongest riders against the clock, while also claiming a major one-day victory at Binche-Chimay-Binche.

Career overview
Van de Vel switched from triathlon to professional road cycling after becoming Belgian half-distance triathlon champion in 2019. She immediately demonstrated her time-trial ability with second in the 2020 Belgian championship and represented Belgium at the World Championships later that season. Her biggest road victory came at Binche-Chimay-Binche in 2021, the same year she finished ninth in the European Championship time-trial. Van de Vel remained a consistent national-level time-trialist, finishing fourth in the Belgian championship in both 2022 and 2023. During her final season with Fenix-Deceuninck Development Team she also finished second in the time-trial stage of Gracia-Orlová. She retired from competitive cycling at the end of 2023.
