Two weeks after 10th place at the Strade Bianche di Siena, Silvia Persico today hit another 10th place in a World Tour race. from thirty athletes.
In the last stages of the race, characterised by the passages on the Orino mountain Grand Prix, the Valcar – Travel & Service rider managed the situation with personality, positioning herself behind the train of the world champion Elisa Balsamo and managing to give her team the third top 10 in as many World Tour races.
“If I hadn’t lost valuable positions in view of the last corner, perhaps I could have even placed myself better”, analyses Silvia Persico. “However cycling is not made of if and buts; so I take home this other placement and the awareness that the condition is good”.
Having a good state of form in the coming weeks will be decisive, given the commitments that await Silvia and her teammates.
“De Panne, Gent-Wevelgem and then Flanders. I have never denied it, the Ronde van Vlaanderen is one of my competitive dreams. It would be fabulous to finish it in the top ten”.
