Soudal-QuickStep secures future with contract extension for rising star Paul Magnier through 2027

Soudal-QuickStep has confirmed the extension of their young French rider Paul Magnier’s contract, a year after he joined the professional ranks. The new agreement will keep him with the team until the end of the 2027 season. At just 20 years old, Magnier has made a notable impact since his debut, securing a victory at the Challenge Mallorca last year, followed by a stage win at the Tour of Oman and three victories during the Tour of Britain.

In 2025, he kicked off the season with another win at the Etoile des Bessรจges, and he followed that with several strong performances, including runner-up finishes at the Figueira Champions Classic, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, and the Ename Samyn Classic. This Sunday, he will make his debut at the Tour of Flanders, a significant step as he prepares to compete in the Giro d’Italia in May. His most recent race, Dwars door Vlaanderen, ended prematurely due to a crash.

Magnier’s Reflections on the Team

In his own words, Magnier expressed his pride in continuing with Soudal-QuickStep, stating, “I feel good here, and I want to continue to progress.” His decision to sign a new agreement was straightforward, as he views the team as more than just a workplace. “I like that everybody is so friendly here,” he remarked, highlighting the positive team spirit both during races and outside of them. He recalled his memorable experiences with the team, particularly in the Tour of Britain, where he achieved three wins with the backing of a dedicated squad.

Looking ahead, Magnier is enthusiastic about his first Monument race at Flanders, noting, “The cobbled Classics have been my racing dream.” He stated, “I look forward to it. From the moment the team contacted me, I began dreaming of doing the cobbled Classics. I love these races, the mentality you need to win a race like this, and the fact they are so action-packed. Itโ€™s pure cycling.”

Management’s Perspective

Soudal-QuickStep CEO Jurgen Forรฉ described the contract extension as a “landmark moment,” praising Magnier as “one of the very best young riders around.” Forรฉ stated, “Itโ€™s a landmark moment for us to be able to announce that Paul will stay with us for two more years. I have personally expressed my belief our best policy going forward is to invest in young riders, and in the future for our team, and Paul is one of the very best young riders around.”

Forรฉ highlighted Magnier’s promising start to his career, noting his eagerness to learn from more experienced teammates. “We believe that he will grow into one of the pillars on which the teamโ€™s future success is built around,” he added.
