It is the first time that the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya Femenina will be a stage race. It began life in 2018 and subsequently post-covid in 2021, 2022 and 2023 as the reVolta one-day race. Plenty of climbing but an often small startlist, the hope is that a stage race will encourage more teams and stronger riders to the northeast corner of Spain. The Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta del Sol Women will have its 3rd edition in 2024. Arlenis Sierra won the first edition, with Movistar able to retain the title through Katrine Aalerud. The race grew from 3 stages to 5 stages last year but is back down to 4 stages this season. 

The GP Ciudad de Eibar kicked off in 2018 at the Spanish national level as part of their extensive domestic calendar. Sara Martin won that inaugural edition whilst racing for Sopela. The following season saw Lorena Llamas Garcia win for Movistar before Covid called a halt to the race in 2020.
